Denver Broncos high school football coach of the week: Grandview's Tom Doherty

There are few better ways for a head coach to make his debut for a program than what Tom Doherty and his Grandview Wolves did in their season opening win on Thursday, Aug. 26.

That is a big reason why Doherty was selected as this week’s Denver Broncos high school coach of the week.

Doherty led his then-ranked 5A No. 9 Grandview team to a thrilling 30-29 last-second victory over 5A No. 7 ranked Pomona. The winning touchdown was scored with just 10 seconds left on the clock on a successful QB sneak from the one-yard line.

The Wolves are now ranked sixth at the 5A ranks ahead of this week’s matchup with Mountain Vista, who also comes in with a 1-0 record.
