After sending coach Olander out on top, Eaglecrest officially posts its boys basketball job
The head boys basketball coaching job at Eaglecrest has officially been posted.
The Raptors sent longtime coach John Olander Jr. off into retirement with the Class 5A championship over the weekend. On Monday, athletic director Vince Orlando posted the opening to the Cherry Creek Schools website.
Olander headed the program for 16 seasons.
“There are obviously huge shoes to fill with what he’s established with this program in terms of expectations and competing at a state level on a yearly basis,” Orlando said on Tuesday morning. “He’s brought our program to another level, and we’re going to miss him.”
Eaglecrest does have a teaching position available “in most subject areas,” Orlando said, so the hope is to hire a coach who would be in the building.
In terms of that future coach, Orlando said the school is looking for “somebody with experience and somebody who will embrace the expectations for the program.”
“It’s a great job and a sustainable job that has chance for long-term success year after year,” Orlando said. “The expectations aren’t going to change. What we’ve established with this program has been program has been pretty special, and we want to continue that.”
