Preseason boys lacrosse rankings: Cherry Creek heads 5A, Dawson on top of 4A

Cherry Creek ended the 2015 season standing tall as the state lacrosse champion. This week, they’re still seen as the team to beat as they come in as the CHSAANow.com preseason No. 1 in Class 5A.

The Bruins topped Regis Jesuit 13-10 to win the state title last spring. It was the fifth boys lacrosse title for the school.

The Raiders also come in as a highly ranked team as they’ll start the season at No. 3. Mountain Vista comes in as the preseason No. 2, getting two first-place votes in the process.

In 4A, it’s the Dawson School that comes in with the No. 1 preseason ranking. The Mustangs made it to the Final 4 last season before falling to eventual state champion Aspen.

Valor Christian comes in as the No. 2 team in 4A as they receive two first-place votes.

Defending 4A champion Aspen will start the season ranked No. 6.

The rankings, voted upon by coaches and select media members, are the official polls of the Association. During the regular season, they are released each Monday.
