The consummate student-athlete, Joe Romig excelled in football and wrestling at Lakewood High School. He earned countless academic honors in high school and college, earning the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship, Woodrow Wilson Scholarship and the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award. He was a two-time state wrestling champion and earned honors as a University of Colorado football player. He is a member of the National High School Hall of Fame
