Earl "Dutch" ClarkPerhaps the greatest athlete to ever compete in interscholastic sports in Colorado, Clark earned 16 letters while participating in football, basketball, baseball and track at Pueblo Central from 1923-26. Clark led the Wildcats to a pair of state football appearances, while establishing single season and career scoring records which still stand. In 1926, Clark guided PCHS to the CHSAA state basketball championship, then took the team to a second place finish at the national tournament in Chicago.
The Puebloan's athletic career continued on its high plane at Colorado College where he was named All-America. He went on to become an all-pro player and coach for the Detroit Lions, leading the National Football League in scoring four times and was a charter member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
He is also a charter member of the College Football Hall of Fame and Colorado Sports Hall of Fame. Clark was honored posthumously by Pueblo School District 60 in 1980 with the naming of the district's stadium in his honor. He died in 1978.
