John Sullivan is an Assistant Commissioner for the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA), where he helps oversee athletics and activities programs statewide. In this role, he supports the administration of sports while working closely with member schools and stakeholders. He joined the CHSAA staff after more than 20 years in public education as a teacher, coach, and administrator.
Prior to CHSAA, Sullivan served as the athletic and activities director at Vista PEAK Preparatory, a role he held beginning in 2017. He also taught courses including physical science, geology, physics, and principles of engineering, and helped establish Advanced Placement physics programs at both Vista PEAK and Rangeview High School. His career in education began at Rangeview, where he taught from 1999 to 2013 before transitioning to Vista PEAK.
In addition to his work in the classroom and administration, Sullivan has coached a wide range of sports, including football, boys and girls basketball, track and field, and baseball. He served as head football coach at Vista PEAK from 2015 to 2021. He has also been active in CHSAA leadership as president of the EMAC league and as a member of the CHSAA football committee. Sullivan is committed to building strong relationships and supporting educational-based athletics that positively impact students and school communities.
