Responsibilities
Title IX, ADA & Disability Compliance, New Schools
Bethany Brookens is the Associate Commissioner of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA), where she helps oversee the organization’s operations and strategic initiatives. She was appointed to the role in 2022 after serving as an assistant commissioner since 2008. In her current position, she works closely with CHSAA leadership, staff, and member schools to support and enhance activities and athletics across Colorado.
Brookens has extensive experience administering a wide range of sports and activities, including tennis, volleyball, skiing, and basketball. She has also played a key role in the development and implementation of CHSAA’s digital platform, leading training and outreach efforts across the state. In addition, she serves as CHSAA’s Title IX and Equity liaison, supporting schools in promoting inclusive and equitable participation opportunities.
Beyond her work within CHSAA, Brookens has been actively involved in numerous statewide and national organizations. She has served on boards and committees including the Colorado Tennis Association, Sportswomen of Colorado, and NFHS advisory committees for music and volleyball. She works closely with partner organizations such as CDE, CADA, CHSCA, CASB, CASE, and the Classification and League Organization Committee (CLOC). Brookens holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado and remains committed to advancing education-based athletics and activities for all students.
