Regis Jesuit senior Fran Belibi was named Colorado's girls basketball player of the year by Gatorade on Friday morning.

She is the third girls basketball player from Regis Jesuit to be honored with the award, and now becomes a finalist for the national award.

A 6-foot-1 forward, Belibi helped Regis Jesuit go 23-3 and reach the Class 5A Final 4 this season. She averaged 21.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.4 steals, 2.7 blocks and 2.3 assists.

A Stanford recruit, Belibi has been selected to the McDonald's All-American Game.

Last season, Belibi became the first girl in Colorado to dunk in a game. She only added to her highlight reel this season.

"Fran is a generational player," said Regis Jesuit coach Carl Mattei. "She's transforming the way girls and women play basketball. She uses the dunk shot in practice every day and in every game. If not tackled, grabbed or intentionally taken down, Fran would play above the rim."

Belibi has a 3.99 GPA, and is a National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists Award of Excellence honoree.
