Baseball: State Championship Weekend Matchups Set

AURORA — Four teams - No. 1 Forge Christian (2A), No. 5 Pueblo County (4A), No. 3 Regis Jesuit (5A) and No. 1 University (3A) - have secured its spot in next Saturday's Baseball State Championship game, while an additional three teams in each classification are still alive and will play through the consolation rounds on Friday for a chance to snag the other championship game spot. 

In 5A, No. 1 Arvada West will await the winner of the third round consolation game between No. 4 Pine Creek and No. 7 Legend in the fourth round consolation game. The winner of that fourth round consolation game will advance to the state championship game to face No. 3 Regis Jesuit. 

In 4A, No. 1 Palisade and No. 8 Ponderosa will meet again in the third round consolation for a rematch of the first-round matchup that saw Palisade advance on a suicide squeeze in the bottom of the seventh inning. The winner of the rematch will advance to the fourth round consolation, where No. 3 Falcon awaits. The winner of that second consolation game will advance to the championship game to face No. 5 Pueblo County. 

The 3A bracket will have No. 4 The Classical Academy and No. 6 D'Evelyn playing in the third round consolation game, with No. 2 Eaton waiting the winner of that game in the fourth round consolation. The winner of the fourth round consolation game will move on to face No. 1 University in the championship game. 

Finally, in 2A, No. 1 Forge Christian has already secured its spot in the championship game, while No. 3 Yuma and No. 4 Denver Christian will begin action in the third round consolation. That winner will advance to the fourth round to face No. 2 Monte Vista, with the winner of that game moving on to the championship game. 

All third round consolation games will be played on Friday at 10 a.m., with the fourth round consolation set for 12:30 p.m. All championship games will be played on Saturday at 10 a.m. With the tournament being a true double-elimination bracket, tf the team advancing through the consolation round is to win the first champoinship game, a second "if needed" championship game will be played Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Important Spectator/Venue Information

  • Class 3A at Butch Butler Field and University High School
    • Per the City of Greeley, NO PETS are allowed in the park for any 3A baseball games at either Butch Butler Field or University High School. This is inclusive of all pets, not just dogs.
  • Class 4A at Air Force Academy
    • Per United State Air Force Academy base policy, anyone over the age of 18 (coaches, trainers, parents, school administrators, bus drivers, etc.) planning to attend any 4A baseball games at Air Force Academy's Erdle Field MUST complete a Visitor Pre-Registration Request PRIOR to attending any games. The application can take up to 24 hours for processing, so please complete the form as early as possible.
      • Who must complete the form: Non-DoD ID holders who are 18 years of age or older (coaches, admin, trainers, bus drivers, parents, family members, friends, etc.). If both parents are in the car, both parents need to complete the link not just the driver.
      • Who does not need to complete the form: DoD ID holders; Anyone under the age of 18; Players on the team, (ie., Seniors that may have just turned 18) DO NOT need to complete the form.
      • For anyone who is not a US Citizen or does not have a REAL ID, will need to visit the PRO (pass and registration office) at the south gate entrance to receive a paper pass.

NFHS Network

  • The NFHS Network WILL be on site to broadcast ALL of the state tournament games both this weekend at next. Therefore, NO ADDITIONAL STREAMING MAY BE PROVIDED FOR ANY GAMES.
  • Any team/school/parent that streams a game to a team's GameChanger account - or to any other platform (Facebook Live, YouTube, etc.) - will be in violation of the CHSAA/NFHS Network's broadcast policies and will be subject to both a postseason rights fee and a media rights violation fee. 
  • Watch all games live on the NFHS Network.
