5A Girls Basketball: Sweet 16 Update

AURORA - The Sweet 16, the third round of the Colorado High School Activities Association's 5A Girls Basketball State Championship, was played Wednesday, determining the field for Friday's quarterfinals.

In the top game of the night, No. 7 Mead held off No. 10 Roosevelt 54-52, ensuring the that top seven seeds advance. Only No. 9 Pueblo East, a 57-36 winner over No. 8 Palmer Ridge was able to spring an upset.

The tournament now moves to the Denver Coliseum, with the quarterfinals Saturday, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, March 12 and the championship games on Saturday, March 14. Game times for Saturday's quarterfinals will be announced Thursday.
