Jeremy Kerns Honored as February's Brewed for Impact Award Winner

AURORA - CHSAA Commissioner Mike Krueger announced on the February edition of Coffee with the Commish that Jeremy Kerns is the January winner of the Brewed for Impact with Circle K award.

Kerns is the Athletic Director at Byers High School, where he's also a social studies teacher and head coach for the boys basketball team.

“Jeremy Kerns represents the very best of educationally based athletics and activities," CHSAA Commissioner Mike Krueger said. "For more than two decades, he has invested in students not only as a teacher, coach, and athletic director, but as a mentor and role model whose influence extends far beyond the school walls. His positive attitude, unwavering commitment to high standards, and genuine care for kids have shaped countless lives and strengthened the entire Byers community. Jeremy’s work reminds us that the true purpose of participation is not simply competition, but the development of character, responsibility, and opportunity. We are incredibly grateful for his dedication and proud to recognize him as this month’s Brewed for Impact Award winner.”

New for the 2025-26 school year and in partnership with Circle K, CHSAA is recognizing school administrators with a Brewed for Impact Award. This award honors those who lead with purpose, consistency and heart - pouring into others while championing educationally based athletics and activities. This monthly recognition is part of Coffee with the Commish and recognizes leadership that goes beyond wins and losses and focuses on building stronger schools and stronger communities through the values of educationally based programs.

Each month, one award winner will receive a certificate from CHSAA Commissioner Mike Krueger and a coffee mug from Circle K for embodying the mission of CHSAA and making a meaningful difference in their schools and communities. This month, with legendary NFL cornerback, Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Denver Bronco Champ Bailey joining the meeting as a guest, Kerns will also receive an autographed Champ Bailey photo.

The first award winner was announced on September 24, 2025. The next winner will be announced on March 25 at Coffee with the Commish.
