DENVER - Throughout the second day of competition at the 2025 Girls Volleyball State Championships, 10 teams across the five classifications have secured its spot in tomorrow’s semifinals, while an additional 20 teams are still alive and looking to clinch the remaining semifinal spots through the contenders bracket.
All five top seeds have secured spots in its respective semifinals, with Fossil Ridge (5A), Montrose (4A), Alamosa (3A), Simla (2A) and Merino (1A) all remaining undefeated. Those five teams will be joined by No. 3 Rock Canyon (5A), No. 3 University (4A), No. 3 Eaton (3A), No. 2 Swink (2A) and No. 2 McClave (1A) in the other semifinal, as they have all also remained undefeated through the two days of play.
Saturday’s competition will begin with the two third-round consolation games at 8 and 9:30 a.m., with the winners advancing to the semifinals at noon and 2 p.m. The championship games for all five classes are scheduled for 6 p.m.

Class 5A
No. 1 Fossil Ridge got past No. 5 Rampart, 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-10, 25-21), to secure a spot in the semifinals, while No. 3 Rock Canyon upset No. 2 Valor Christian in five sets by scores of 25-23, 26-28, 24-26, 25-19, 15-7 to also clinch a semifinal spot.
Fossil Ridge will play in the first semifinal game at noon, and will face the winner of No. 2 Valor Christian vs. No. 8 Pine Creek, while Rock Canyon will take on the winner of No. 5 Rampart vs. No. 7 Chaparral. Pine Creek advanced through the consolation bracket with a 3-1 (16-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-18) win over No. 4 Legend, while No. 7 Chaparral used a 3-1 (25-9, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22) win over No. 6 Ralston Valley to stay alive.

Class 4A
Top-seeded Montrose moved on to the semifinals by beating No. 4 Lutheran, 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-17, 25-22) and will now await the winner of No. 2 Windsor vs. No. 8 Battle Mountain. Battle Mountain stayed alive through the elimination bracket by escaping Standley Lake in five sets with scores of 16-25, 26-28, 25-22, 25-19, 15-10, while Windsor fell to No. 3 University, 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-19), to move to the elimination bracket.
With the win today, University clinched the second semifinal spot and will now await the winner of Lutheran vs. Lewis-Palmer, the tournament's No. 5 seed. Lewis-Palmer advanced through the consolation bracket by edging No. 9 Mead in five sets (28-26, 20-25, 18-25, 25-16, 15-12).

Top-seeded Alamosa knocked off No. 12 The Village, 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 25-11) to secure a spot in the semifinals, before No. 3 Eaton defeated No. 7 The Classical Academy, 3-1 (25-16, 18-25, 26-24, 25-18), to clinch a spot in the other semifinal.
TCA will now take on No. 8 Sterling, which knocked off No. 4 Forge Christian in five sets (24-26, 25-16, 22-25, 25-23, 15-13), with the winner advancing to the semifinals to face Alamosa, while the winner of the Resurrection Christian and The Village match will advance to face Eaton in the other semifinal. Resurrection Christian stayed alive through the consolation bracket by sweeping No. 5 Stargate School, 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-20) in the 3A nightcap.

Class 2A
Top-seeded Simla and No. 6 Swink cruised to the semifinals, each posting sweeps on the day. Simla took down No. 4 Holyoke (25-15, 25-15, 25-8), while Swink upset second-seeded Denver Christian (25-20, 25-13, 25-18).
Denver Christian and Holyoke will now move to the consolation bracket, where the two teams will look to maket their way to the semifinals. Denver Christian will first face No. 8 Wiggins at 8 a.m., as Wiggins advanced through the consolation bracket by knocking off No. 11 Vail Christian, 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-16). No. 7 Sedgwick County also advanced through the consolation bracket, upsetting third-seeded Dolores in five sets (22-25, 25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 15-12) and will next face No. 4 Holyoke at 9:30 a.m.

Class 1A
No. 1 Merino swept its way to the semfinals (25-22, 25-15, 25-22), sending No. 4 Flatirons Academy to the consolation bracket, where it will face No. 12 Caliche. Caliche stayed alive through the consolation bracket by defeating No. 10 Prairie in the final 1A match of the night, 3-2 (25-15, 25-17, 23-25, 17-25, 15-11).
The winner of the Flatirons Academy vs. Caliche match will advance to the semifinals to face No. 2 McClave, which used a reverse sweep to get past upset-minded and No. 3 seed Fleming in five sets (17-25, 24-26, 25-23, 28-26, 15-8) to secure its spot in the semis.
Fleming will now look to get to the semifinals through the consolation bracket, as it faces No. 8 Sargent in the 8 a.m. game. Sargent advanced by sweeping No. 5 Granada with set scores of 25-18, 25-6 and 25-15.
