AURORA -- After semifinals were played in three classes Wednesday night, all four championship matchups have been set in the CHSAA's Boys Soccer State Tournament .
In 4A on Wednesday, top-seeded Mullen edged upset-minded No. 12 Cheyenne Mountain 1-0, and No. 6 Greeley Central knocked off No. 2 Silver Creek in penalty kicks (4-3) after the teams played to a 0-0 draw through two overtimes. Mullen was runner-up for a fifth time last year (others came in 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2021) and won its only boys soccer state championship in 2011. Greeley Central, meanwhile, will be playing in its first-ever boys soccer state championshp match.
In Wednesday's 3A semifinals, No. 3 Steamboat Springs defeated No. 2 Jefferson Academy in penalty kicks (4-3) after playing to a 0-0 tie through two overtimes, and No. 4 Kent Denver defeated No. 8 The Academy 2-0. Steamboat Springs is making just its second appearance in a state soccer championship match, having finished as the runner-up in 1996. The Sun Devils, meanwhile, return to the final for the first time since winning their fifth state championship in six seasons in 2019 (other titles were in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018) and are bidding to become the seventh program in the state with six or more boys soccer state championships. Kent Denver is also a five-time runner-up (1993, 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2012).
In 2A on Wednesday, No. 3 Crested Butte outlasted No. 2 Salida 1-0 with an overtime goal, and defending champion and No. 4 seed Forge Christian rolled to a 5-1 victory over No. 1 seed Bruce Randolph. Owner of six state titles, Forge Christian will attempt to tie Cherry Creek and Colorado Academy for the second most boys soccer state championships in state history behind Broomfield's nine. In addition to last year, the school also won titles in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2011 and was runner-up in 1999, 2004 and 2005. Crested Butte, meanwhile, is 4-for-4 in state championship games, having won in 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2023.
The 5A final will feature No. 1 seed Ralston Valley and No. 6 seed Regis Jesuit after those teams won Tuesday semifinals. Ralston Valley will play for the boys soccer state championship for the first time in school history, while Regis Jesuit is a four-time state champion (1991, 1992, 1995 and 1996) and four-time runner-up (1993, 1994, 2008, 2019).
All four state championship games are scheduled to be played at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs on Saturday. The 2A final will be at 9 a.m., followed by the 3A final at noon, the 4A final at 3 p.m. and the 5A final at 6 p.m.
