AURORA - The semifinalists have been determined for the Colorado High School Activities Association's 2024 Football State Championships for 3A, 4A and 5A after quarterfinal games were played Friday and Saturday.

In 3A, the top three seeds, and four of the top five, have advanced to the semifinals. No. 1 Thompson Valley defeated No. 8 Discovery Canyon 30-7, No. 2 Mead beat No. 7 Pueblo Central 34-23, No. 3 Pomona edged No. 6 Windsor 27-23 and No. 5 Green Mountain held off No. 13 Severance 35-20. In the semifinals, Thompson Valley will play Green Mountain, and Mead faces Pomona.

In 4A, as in 3A, the top three seeds, and four of the top five, advanced. No. 1 Dakota Ridge topped No. 8 Ponderosa 14-0 and will next play No. 5 Broomfield, which was a 32-23 winner over No. 4 Palmer Ridge. Meanwhile, No. 2 Montrose and No. 3 Pueblo West will play in the semifinals after Montrose beat No. 7 Mesa Ridge 53-21 and Pueblo West held off No. 11 Heritage 42-28.

In 5A, only one of the top four seeds advanced as quarterfinals saw No. 1 Cherry Creek defeat No. 9 Erie 34-14, No. 5 Valor Christian top No. 4 Columbine 31-7, No. 6 Legend knock off No. 3 Ralston Valley 35-16, and No. 7 Fairview outscore No. 2 Mountain Vista 49-45. That sets up semifinal matchups that will pit Cherry Creek against Valor Christian and Legend against Fairview.
