Michael Book selected as assistant commissioner in charge of sports officials

15345The Colorado High School Activities Association names Michael Book to be the next Assistant Commissioner in charge of Sports Officials with intentional focus of on recruitment. 
 
Mike leads the Association as the chair of the Official’s Fee Committee. Mike recently presented the committee’s statewide report to include attainable options to address official’s concerns during the Legislative Council’s Policy Meeting. Mike has officiated at all levels of middle, high school, and collegiate as well as had visible turns as a Championship Official for State.

Mike’s diverse career in the official’s arena includes on-site trainings, mentoring, and evaluative improvement reports.
 
“I am excited about the opportunity to navigate and enhance the recruitment and retention of officials across the state and in all areas that CHSAA serves” Book said.
 
Currently the principal at Wiggins High School, Book has also been an athletic director and baseball, football and basketball coach and at several schools including Calhan and Ellicott. 
 
Book has officiated three basketball state championships, has been a CHSAA Board of Control Committee member and has been a member of both the Colorado Association of School Executives and the Colorado Athletic Directors Association.
 
“Mike is going to be a phenomenal addition to the CHSAA staff family,” incoming CHSAA commissioner Michael Krueger said. “We had some incredible applicants for this position. Mike just had the perfect balance of officiating and administrative background experience, which will allow him to serve our membership in this important role very effectively.
