Boys Volleyball: State Champions to be Crowned Saturday

FOUNTAIN - The second day of the 2026 Boys Volleyball State Championships has concluded, setting the stage for championship Saturday, with two state champions – one in 4A and one in 5A – will be crowned.

But there is much to be determined before the 5A and 4A championship matches, which are scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

A semifinal match pitting two teams that have gone 2-0 through two days of competition starts things off at 10 a.m., then two elimination contests are next, with the winner emerging to play for the state title.
 
Play will start with the two semifinal matches at 10 a.m., followed by the third and fourth-round elimination matches at noon and 2 p.m., respectively.

All game times, live scores, matchups and results will be available on the brackets.
 

In the 4A tournament on Friday, No. 7 Lutheran continued its run through the tournament with a 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-18 25-23) over No. 3 Mountain View. Meanwhile, No. 1 D'Evelyn outlasted No. 5 Mullen 3-2 (25-20 26-28, 15-25, 25-23, 15-13) to improve to 2-0 and set up a meeting with Lutheran.

In the elimination bracket, defending champion and No. 2 seed Regis Groff won a pair of 3-0 decisions, beating No. 6 Colorado Springs Christian 25-7, 25-18, 25-18 and then Mullen 25-17, 25-23, 25-13 to advance to the final four. The Fusion will play Mountain View in the first elimination match of the day at noon. After losing to Lutheran, Mountain View topped No. 8 Stargate School 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-22). Stargate had knocked off No. 4 Pueblo South 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 24-26, 25-22) in the early match.

In the 5A bracket, while No. 1 Eaglecrest and No. 3 Grandview advanced to the semifinals, it was a wild day in the elimation bracket with three of the four matches going five sets -- capped by No. 5 Discovery Canyon's 25-21, 17-25, 25-22, 21-25, 23-21 win over No. 7 Legacy in the final match of the night.

Eaglecrest had beaten Discovery Canyon 3-0 (26-24, 25-10, 25-16) in one of the second-round matches to start the day. In the other, Grandview topped No. 2 Littleton Public Schools 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-23, 28-26). Littleton then rallied to defeat No. 8 Castle View 3-2 (20-25, 25-22, 17-25, 25-21, 15-10). In the first round of elimination matches, Castle View got the reverse sweep in defeating No. 4 Rampart 3-2 (18-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-20, 16-14) and Legacy swept No. 6 Douglas County 3-0 (25-21, 25-17 25-19).
