AURORA -- The semifinalists for CHSAA's 1A baseball state tournament have been determined following tournament games played Saturday.
Teams needed two victories Saturday in order to advance.
At the Haxtun regional, a long and wild day came to an end as -- after a rain delay -- No. 6 Merino emerged with an 18-16, eight-inning victory over No. 3 Haxtun. No. 1 Flatirons Academy, No. 5 Nucla and defending state champion and No. 7 Akron are also in the semifinals.
The semifinals and championship game will be played Thursday, May 14, at Lakewood's Blue Sky All-Star Park.
Flatirons Academy plays Nucla in one semifinal, while Merino and Akron meet in the other.
