COLORADO SPRINGS -- CHSAA crowned its four champions in boys soccer on Saturday at Weidner Field.
All four finals were nail-biters.
In 2A, Crested Butte and Forge Christian played to a 0-0 draw through two overtimes, then Forge Christian went up 3-1 in the penalty-kick shootout before Crested Butte rallied for a 4-3 win. In 3A, Kent Denver edged Steamboat Springs 1-0.
Mullen scored early in the 4A final against high-scoring Greeley Central, then added a late goal for a 2-0 lead. In 5A, Regis Jesuit scored just seconds into overtime to knock off Ralston Valley, 1-0.
Mullen in 4A and Ralston Valley in 5A, both seeded No. 1, were the only teams seeded No. 1 or No. 2 to reach the final in the four-class setup. The 2A and 3A matchups were between teams seeded Nos. 3 and 4 -- Crested Butte was No. 3 in 2A and Kent Denver was No. 4 in 3A. The No. 6 seed reached the final in both 4A and 5A, with Regis Jesuit winning its matchup in 5A and Greeley Central falling in the 4A final.
