AURORA - With the first contest of the 2023 girls cross country season today, check out CHSAA's top-10 rankings for each classification. The state championship will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Norris Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs.

5A Girls Cross Country
Air Academy returns the entirety of its roster from last year’s dominant state title run, which boasts four of 2022’s 15 fastest runners, keeping them atop the rankings. That said, Fairview and Mountain Vista also return almost the entirety of their top-end rosters as well, so keep an eye out for them.

4A Girls Cross Country
Niwot boasts three of the top four, four of the top six, and five of the top nine returning runners in the 4A Girls’ class, and, as a result, remain the No. 1 team. Battle Mountain, Durango and Cheyenne Mountain could contend though. They each return the large majority of their rosters, all of which finished top-four in 2022.

Despite graduating a star-studded senior class, Alamosa stays atop the CHSAA rankings, thanks to having three of the class’s top-seven returning runners. The Classical Academy has a strong case of their own though, with five of 2022’s top-65 runners returning to their roster.

2A Girls Cross Country
As they return the entirety of the roster that finished second in the state last season, Heritage Christian takes hold of the top spot in the CHSAA 2A Rankings. Don’t sleep on Lake County or Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy though. BLPA also returns their entire roster, while Lake County only lost one runner from last year’s State Championship squad.
