Bill Fanning

Perhaps the state’s premier baseball coach, Bill Fanning compiled a 467-172 record at Grand Junction High School over 35 years, with just one losing season over that time. The mark was tops in the state when he retired. During his tenure, his teams participated in 21 state playoffs, nine times in the state championship games. He coached three state championship teams, finished second twice and fourth twice. Also a top official in baseball, football and basketball, he has refereed numerous state level contests. He is a member of the National High School Hall of Fame
