Denver
Marcia Neville is an Emmy-award-winning television sports broadcaster. She spent 26 years reporting on Colorado’s high school sports & activities, students, athletes, coaches, and administrators.
She began her career in Colorado at Denver’s Channel 4 before moving over to FOX31. In fall 2006, The Heartland Chapter of the NATAS Emmy Awards, honored Marcia for her years of enthusiasm, and dedication, with its prestigious career achievement award "The Silver Circle."
Neville brought her passion for sports and storytelling to Denver in 1983 from Albany, N.Y., where she'd been the weekend sports anchor at WNYT-TV. She was the first female television sportscaster in Colorado. Neville grew up in the 1970s when network television was just starting to include women in its NFL coverage, and she was inspired by those pioneers to try it herself.
She is a member of the Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports Hall of Fame, and her work has been recognized nationally from the Women’s Sports Foundation, American Women in Radio & Television, and American Women in Communications. For more than a decade she was the host and co-producer of “Colorado Sportswomen.” Neville credits her mother’s love of football as a contributing factor in her decision to become a sports broadcaster.
When describing her career reporting on Colorado’s high schools, Neville always called it “the best job in the state”.
Neville is a member of the selection committees for Sportswomen of Colorado, the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame, and has been part of several CHSAA Hall of Fame Selection Committees. She’s frequently served as the CHSAA Hall of Fame Master of Ceremonies and was awarded the CHSAA Distinguished Service Award in 2003.
