Rhonda Blanford-Green
Aurora Central
Perhaps the finest female track athlete ever from Colorado, Blanford-Green was a three-sport athlete and excelled in volleyball, cheer, and track and field at Aurora Central. She still holds school records in the 100-meter run, 200-meter run, 100-meter hurdles and the long jump.
In every race she ran as a senior, she set a new school record. When she graduated from Aurora Central, she held the state record in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 100 hurdles and long jump.
Blanford-Green was an undefeated Big 8 champion in the indoor and outdoor hurdles and an 11-time All-American for the University of Nebraska. Following her Nebraska career, she was a member and team captain for several U.S. teams that competed internationally. She served 16 years as an administrator with the Colorado High School Activities Association, including two years as Associate Commissioner. She was named Executive Director of the Nebraska Schools Activities Association in 2012. She has coached cross country and track and field at the University of Wyoming, Aurora Central and Eaglecrest High Schools.
Blanford-Green was the first minority administrator hired to the CHSAA staff and she is the first African-American female Executive Director in the nation.
