Marc Johnson

Marc Johnson has coached 12 state championship teams (7 in baseball and 5 in boys’ soccer) in two sports.
He has been at CCHS for the past 39 years and produced 25 league titles and over 300 players who went on to play collegiately and 75 who have played professionally. He has a 631-147 mark as a baseball coach and has received nearly every award possible within the coaching community.
Johnson has been a coach for several international teams and been named Coach of the Year over 12 times. He is a member of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame (2010) and is one of the nation’s most sought after clinicians and convention speakers. His first team at Cherry Creek was the only Bruins team to finish with a losing record in his 39 years as head coach.
Johnson’s expertise has been awarded with many appointments to national and international teams, including being named assistant head coach for the 1988 Junior National Olympic team that competed in Sydney, Australia and won the gold medal.
A native of Norfolk, NE, Johnson played football, basketball and baseball. He went to UNC (nee Colorado State College) with the intention of becoming a teacher/coach.
After doing his student teaching at CCHS and a stint in the Army, Johnson returned to the Bruins program as coach and has been there since. He has coached in the USA Junior Olympics three times. For the past thirty years he has been employed by professional baseball teams as a scout and is currently working with the Colorado Rockies.
Five of his former players played in Major League Baseball: Brad Lidge, David Aardsma, Darnell McDonald, Josh Bard, and Luke Hochever.
