Manitou Springs

Another three-sport athlete, Justin Armour was a standout in football, basketball and track at Manitou Springs High School.

He also served on the student council, school president, newspaper editor and was his class Valedictorian.

A former “Denver Post” Gold Helmet Award and Fred Steinmark Award winner, Armour also participated in drama productions, was a member of the National Honor Society and Young Life. He set the state record for total offensive yards in football and was his basketball team’s leading scorer and rebounder.

Armour led his team to the 1990 state football championship and a state track championship, plus a Final Four finish in basketball.

In February 1991, Armour was the subject of a Sports Illustrated article that showcased what a special student-athlete he was as a prep. As a senior, threw for 25 touchdowns in MSHS’s single-wing offense and then ran for 27 more and gained 1,320 yards. To sharpen his basketball skills, Armour would travel to Denver to take on the better players in the state.

One of the nation’s most widely recruit student-athletes, Armour accepted an athletic scholarship to play both Football and Basketball at Stanford University.

While recruited as a quarterback, he played four years at wide receiver for the Cardinal coached by the legendary Bill Walsh and two years of basketball. His college football resume includes honorable mention All-PAC 10 as a sophomore, second team All-PAC10 as a junior.

During his senior year, Armour ranked ninth in the country and second in the PAC10 in receptions, setting a school mark with 2,482 yards receiving. He was drafted in the fourth round (113th overall) of the 1995 draft by the Buffalo Bills and won a World Championship as a member of the Denver Broncos.
