Vic Garcia ranks as one of the “fathers” of Colorado high school soccer and has a background in the sport as a player, coach, mentor and advocate. Garcia coached the boys’ and girls’ teams at Palmer High School (1980-81) and Lewis-Palmer (1983-91, 1993-99), turning in a mark of 207-74-17, qualifying to the state playoffs 11 times and earning a spot in the finals on four occasions, winning in 1994 for LPHS. His girls’ teams at the two schools went 39-42-8, with one state qualifying appearance. Overall, his high school coaching mark was 246-116-25, for a .668 winning percentage. He was named Coach of the Year on 21 occasions. He was inducted into the CHSCA Hall of Fame (2004) and was the first soccer coach inducted by that organization.
