Tom Hancock
Lakewood
The architect of one of the state’s premier football programs at Lakewood High School, Hancock’s teams won three state titles during his 15 years at the helm. His teams won 10 Jefferson County League titles and never finished lower than second, averaging over nine wins a season. He also coached the Tigers to the 1954 state championship. He also coached wrestling and introduced weight lifting as an integral part of high school athletics.
