Frank Montera
Colorado Springs School District 11
For over 50 years, Frank Montera has been one of the stalwarts in the state’s music community, having served as president of the Colorado Music Educators Association (1998-2000), Chair of the CHSAA Music Committee (1998-2002) and president of the Colorado Bandmasters Association (1993), the three largest music groups in Colorado. He served as host for CHSAA large group festivals and his Colorado Springs Large Group Music Festival served over 100 groups each year in the southern part of the state, where he oversaw the District 11 mustic program leading up to his retirement in 1998. In addition, Montera was one of the state’s top judges for over 30 years.
