A Colorado athletic legend, Hale Irwin’s professional golfing achievements overshadow an exceptional athletic career at Boulder. The Boulder Daily Camera lists Irwin as the greatest prep and college athlete from Boulder. All-everything in football and golf, Irwin won a state golf championship and led the state in passing as a senior. He earned nine letters at Boulder, was a class officer and was a starter on the basketball team. At the University of Colorado, Irwin played football and golf, winning the 1967 NCAA golf championship.
