Castle View senior Leanne Lowry recorded the 2,000th dig of her career on Thursday night.
Lowry is just the fourth player in state history to reach the mark. She ended the match, a sweep of Douglas County, with 14 digs — giving her 2,001 in her excellent career.
A University of Iowa commit, Lowry has a very real chance of breaking the career record of 2,174 digs, set two years ago by Fruita Monument's MacKenzie Wells. Lowry is averaging 19.0 digs per match this season, and Castle View has four regular season matches remaining, plus the Rangeview tournament. The Sabercats (9-6) are also likely to qualify for the postseason.
Lowry's sophomore year, she recorded 736 digs, which are the seventh-most in a single season.
