In a top-5 Class 3A boys soccer matchup, No. 5 Roaring Fork beat No. 3 Delta on Thursday.
The Rams won, 2-1.
“I believe it was a team effort,” Roaring Fork coach Nick Forbes said. “I feel like that every single player from starters to players coming off the bench showed they wanted it more.”
Roaring Fork scored two first half goals, the first from Emiliano Magana and the second from Dylan Webster.
"Every single player from starters to players coming off the bench wanted it more and that showed by our effort on the field," Roaring Fork goalkeeper Noah Wheeless said.
Delta scored a second half goal as Martin Corral scored on a cross by Nathan Downey.
“I feel Roaring Fork came out with more intensity and we didn't match it early on,” Delta coach Paul Shean said. “They put in two goals as they took advantage of our slow start. We played hard, but against good teams if you let your guard down for a couple minute stretch it will always find a way to hurt you. Credit to Coach Forbes and his squad for coming out the better team today.”
