It took a little bit of time, but Cheyenne Mountain was a able to get the runs it needed across the board. In a battle of two Class 4A's top 10 teams, the No. 2 Indians came away with a 5-3 over No. 6 Palmer Ridge on Tuesday.
Aaron Berkhoff led the way for Cheyenne Mountain offensively. He went 3-for-4 at the plate, scored two runs and drove in another.
It was a small-ball effort at its finest as Grant Mondejar was the only Cheyenne Mountain player to record an extra-base hit.
The loss for the Bears also meant the first loss for pitcher Charlie Deeds. The senior has been an anchor for Palmer Ridge as he had given up zero earned runs heading into Tuesday's game.
The two teams are schedule to play again on Thursday, weather permitting.
