Dawson boys lacrosse capped a wild comeback on Tuesday with a goal in the final second by reigning player of the year Gavyn Pure.
The Mustangs, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, rallied to beat 5A Denver East 10-9. Dawson trailed 5-3 at halftime and then 8-4 after the end of three quarters.
But a 6-1 advantage in the final frame lifted Dawson to the win. It was capped by Pure's goal with one second to play.
Pure was named the 4A player of the year last spring.
Dawson is now 8-1 this season, while Denver East moves to 6-5.
