Jefferson Academy boys basketball coach Mark Sharpley won the 400th game of his career last Saturday when his team beat Gunnison at the Buena Vista Tournament.
Sharpley, in his 19th year at the school, is now 400-120 in his career. He previously coached at Belleview Christian before moving to JA.
“I don’t really think about it as a personal achievement because the players are the ones who do all the work, put in all the time and score all the baskets,” Sharpley told BoCoPreps about the milestone just before he won his 400th game. “As coaches, we’re just here to encourage them and teach them about the game. It really has been a lot of fun.”
To secure the milestone, Sharpley’s Jaguars beat Gunnison 45-39 on Saturday. Elian Soto led the way with 16 points, while Dylan Beck and Icarus Buckhold both scored eight points.
