Shae Holmes, a ThunderRidge junior, was named Colorado's girls soccer player of the year by Gatorade on Monday.
Holmes, a midfielder and forward, had 20 goals and seven assists last season for the Grizzlies. She also took part in training camp for the U.S. under-18 women's national team during the season.
"Shae drives the engine on that team with her phenomenal midfield skills," Brighton coach Gonzalo Godinez said in a statement. "Her ability to kick the ball on frame is remarkable and her eagerness to score a goal is impressive."
Holmes has a 3.56 GPA, and volunteers with ThunderRidge's peer counseling program and as a youth soccer coach.
She is committed to the University of Washington.
Holmes is now a finalist for the national player of the year award, which will be announced later this month.
