The teams that were seen as the top dogs at the end of the boys lacrosse regular season will hold on to their distinctions in the 2017 state tournament.

Cherry Creek earned the No. 1 overall seed in the Class 5A boys lacrosse bracket that was released Monday morning. Dawson assumes the top spot in the 4A bracket, the same seed they had a year ago.

Defending 5A champion Regis Jesuit lands at No. 2 with Mountain Vista and Wheat Ridge taking the Nos. 3 and 4 spots, respectively.

The Bruins, Raiders and Golden Eagles all advanced to last year's Final 4. Arapahoe, the other semifinalist from 2016, lands at No. 6 this year.

First round games for the 2016 5A state lacrosse tournament will be played on Wednesday.

After falling short in last year's state title game, Dawson is on the hunt for redemption. The Mustangs regain the No. 1 spot with defending 4A champion Valor Christian taking the No. 2 seed.

Cheyenne Mountain, a semifinalist a year ago, grabs the No. 3 seed. Air Academy was also a semifinal team last seasons and the Kadets are once again a top-10 seed, taking the nine-spot.

At No. 4, Vail Mountain rounds out the top four seeds in the bracket.

Ponderosa (No. 14) and Summit (No. 16) are the two new teams in this year's playoff field.

First round games for the 4A tournament will be played on Tuesday.

Colorado Academy is already in a good position to defend its 2016 girls state lacrosse championship. The Mustangs come into the tournament as the No. 1 overall seed on the bracket, which was released on Monday.

First round games of the tournament are set to be completed by Wednesday.

Denver East, Kent Denver and Chaparral round out the top four seeded teams in this year's tournament. Cherry Creek, who along with Colorado Academy and Kent Denver advanced to last year's semifinals, comes in as the No. 6-seeded team.

Chatfield grabs the No. 17 seed and Centaurus will be the No. 10 seed in the bracket. Both teams did not qualify for the tournament a year ago.
