CENTENNIAL — Cherry Creek had to wait for the third period to get some, offense, but its patience was rewarded as the No. 2 Bruins earned a 3-0 win over No. 7 Mountain Vista.

The Bruins (8-1 overall) had a strong hold on this game from the beginning, but Mountain Vista goaltender Brandon Sego was determined to keep his Golden Eagles in the contest.

Sego tallied up 24 saves before Garret Glaspy found the back of the net four seconds into a Bruin power play.

"I don't score to much as a (defender) so getting to put away that goal was awesome," Glaspy said.

The biggest event stemming from the contest was an incident that occurred with 3:03 left on the clock in the second period.

Mountain Vista (5-4-1) cleared the puck up the ice, but the slow-moving clearance forced Bruin keeper Kyle Englert to come 10 feet in front of his net where he covered it up. While covering it up he was run into by a Golden Eagle attacker. Englert returned to his feet and not to happy with the run in and that's where things became physical. Englert was then ejected for the remainder of the game.

"We didn't really talk about (the ejection), we had to focus on the game," Glaspy said. "We had to come out harder to get the victory in the third."

A major performance from freshman goalie Dylan Romanow as he came into the contest ice cold off the bench and had ten saves en route to the victory.

The schedule doesn't let up for either of these two teams following Friday's game. For Cherry Creek, they face No. 6 Monarch Saturday night followed up with No. 1 Regis Jesuit and No. 3 Ralston Valley next week.

For the Golden Eagles, they face No. 3 Ralston Valley Saturday night with Heritage and No. 1 Regis Jesuit looming next week.
