GOLDEN — Golden announced Monday that it has hired Greg Bolding as its new head girls basketball coach.

Bolding is a former assistant at Mullen and is the co-founder and coach for the Colorado Premier Basketball Club.

“We are lucky to have Coach Bolding coming to Golden and hopefully push our girls to the next level,” said J.C. Summers, Golden’s athletic director.

The Demons had a 17-7 record last year, which included a fourth-place finish in the deep Class 4A Jeffco League which features two-time state champion Valor Christian and last year’s state runner-up Evergreen.

Golden returns several returning key players, including Sydney Prey who led the Demons in scoring with 15.1 points per game as a junior.

Bolding replaces Shea Scarlett, who coached at Golden for three seasons and racked up a 37-36 record. According to Summers, Scarlett stepped down because of his full-time job duties.
