The school announced the move on Monday morning.

Jonson has 15 years of coaching experience, including time as the head coach at CSU-Pueblo (2007-10). He has also been an assistant at Metro State (2004-06), and Colorado School of Mines (2011). He was an assistant at Ralston Valley from 2002-03, and has also been a club volleyball coach.

Jonson is currently an elementary school teacher in Jeffco.

He takes over the flagship sports program at Jeffco's largest school. Lakewood volleyball has a long history of success under Armbrustmacher, who headed the program for nearly 20 seasons.

The Tigers went 16-8 last season, and lost in the regional round. In recent years, the program has made appearances at the state tournament in 2012 and 2011.
