Baseball weather contingencies due to forecast rain

Forecast rain for the weekend will likely wreak havoc on the weekend schedule for postseason baseball.

The Class 1A regional/state tournament is set to begin on Saturday, as is district play in 3A, 4A and 5A. The 2A district tournaments have already started play this week, though many games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

There is an 80 percent chance of rain in much of the state this weekend, but is due to clear up on Monday and Tuesday.

The rain has already postponed the 5A and 4A girls tennis state tournaments to early next week.

Because of this, the CHSAA office has offered the following contingencies:

  • The 2A baseball seeding meeting has moved from Sunday to next Wednesday.
  • A decision on the 1A tournament, which is slated for Denver, will be made on Friday morning. That could move to Monday and/or Tuesday of next week, but no decision has been made yet. The 1A title game is scheduled for next Thursday.
  • The 2A districts can play games either Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. Rain is also likely on Sunday.
  • The 3A, 4A and 5A districts can play games either Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
