Photos: No. 2 Cherry Creek baseball knocks off No. 1 Regis Jesuit in extras

AURORA — In a showdown of Class 5A baseball's top two teams, No. 2 Cherry Creek edged No. 1 Regis Jesuit 6-5 in eight innings on Monday.

Parker Jax went 3-for-5 for Cherry Creek, while Andrew Chavez was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Ethan Widoff scored three runs.

Cherry Creek trailed 5-4 heading to the top of the seventh, but tied it up, then won the game in extras.

Nick Ulmer picked up the win for the Bruins. He tossed a perfect inning, striking out two.

Regis starter Brent Schwarz went four innings, and allowed just one earned run. He struck out six.
