AURORA — The springs sports season kicked off its practices on Monday, though many inches of snow from a weekend storm remain on the ground across much of the state.

Ready to roll are baseball, girls golf, boys/girls lacrosse, girls soccer, boys swim and dive, girls tennis and boys/girls track and field.

All sports can have their first scrimmage on Feb. 28, save for girls golf and girls tennis — which can both scrimmage on Feb. 26. Likewise, girls golf and girls tennis can also begin their respective regular seasons on Feb. 26.

All other sports can begin their regular seasons on March 5.

The first championship of the spring season comes on May 7-9, when girls tennis holds its state tournaments. The spring season will close on May 23 with the Class 3A-5A baseball championships. (Weather-permitting.)
