Preseason girls lacrosse rankings: Colorado Academy is No. 1

Defending girls lacrosse champion Colorado Academy will begin the season as the No. 1 team in the state.

The Mustangs were a unanimous pick among the voters.

Cherry Creek, the runner-up from the 2015 state title game, comes in at No. 2 adding some anticipation to a potential rematch between the two teams in the state championship game this May.

Colorado Academy ended a 10-year streak that saw either the Bruins or Air Academy taking the state title. The Kadets come in at No. 9 to start the year.

In all, six of the final eight teams standing from last year's state tournament debut in the preseason top 10 this year.

The rankings, voted upon by coaches and select media members, are the official polls of the Association. During the regular season, they are released each Monday.
