Hockey rankings: Steamboat Springs joins at No. 7

Steamboat Springs isn't messing around. After a blistering 3-0-0 start to their season, the Sailors made their case to be one of the top hockey teams in the state.

And the results followed suit.

The Sailors came in at No. 7 this week, the lone newcomer to the CHSAANow.com hockey rankings.

Monarch held their spot as the No. 1 team in the state after their 13-0 win over Summit last week. Regis Jesuit stayed at No. 2, but received no first place votes even with a 5-2 win over No. 9 Lewis-Palmer.

Dakota Ridge and Cherry Creek were the only other teams to receive first place votes. The Bruins, who won last year's state title, took two votes and the Eagles snagged one. Dakota Ridge sits at No. 4 this week while Cherry Creek lands at No. 5, swapping spots with each other from the preseason poll.

No. 8 Denver East was the only ranked team who didn't see action last week.

The rankings, voted upon by coaches and select media members, are the official polls of the Association. During the regular season, the poll will release each Monday.
